Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended on Sunday the opening session of Egypt Economic Conference 2022, which aims to discuss the conditions and future of the country's economy, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.

Egypt's Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, along with ministers, intellectuals, economists, and representatives of political parties, attended the conference.

The conference, taking place from 23-25 October 2022, is organised by the Egyptian government in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), with the aim to draw up a roadmap for the future of the Egyptian economy within the coming period.

The conference kicked off by screening a documentary on the Egyptian economy and the major challenges it faced.

The film spotlighted Egypt’s wise leadership, which was able to fight terrorism, restore security, build state institutions, set up the new Suez Canal, and adopt a comprehensive reform plan, whilst developing a transport system and launching a national road project at a cost of EGP 310 billion.

Furthermore, the film shed light on other major achievements, including the development of a power system by EGP 1.50 trillion, the establishment of 17 industrial complexes and four integrated industrial cities, the development of ports and safe areas by EGP 129 billion and EGP 318 billion, respectively, in addition to building 30 new cities.

The agenda of the three-day conference includes many sessions focusing on three main tracks: macroeconomic policies, private sector empowerment and creation of a business-friendly ecosystem, and the formulation of a future roadmap for the priority sectors in the government’s work programme.

Several roundtable sessions are set to be held during the conference and a number of privileges for the industry sector and exporters will be announced as well, with the aim of achieving national objectives.

For his part, Egypt's Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, said the Egypt Economic Conference 2022 comes at an unprecedented time of a global crisis that has not been witnessed since World War II.

Governments of advanced and emerging economies are struggling to survive and ensure stability, and Egypt is no exception, Madbouly stated.

He further noted that the increasing population is a major challenge facing the Egyptian state.
